We are excited to welcome Leo, Ashley, Brad, Leah, and Aaron to Overland this week, and recognize Brett and Ari—who have been with us since the New Year—as the newest interns to join our Overland family!

Ari Cohen has been to 5 of the 7 continents and hopes to reach the remaining 2 (South America and Antarctica) someday. While at Overland, she is most excited about being able to experience how Overland starts a brand new project and solve problems throughout the design process. She is pursuing her M.Arch. at UT Austin. Top 5 Strengths: Empathy, Relator, Strategic, Developer, and Maximizer.

Brad Schaefer, collector of lava lamps, is looking forward to discovering what he is truly passionate about during his time here. Brad is working on his B.Arch. degree from Judson University. Top 5 Strengths: Restorative, Relator, Learner, Individualization, and Responsibility.

Leah Ferrara likes to put chips on her sandwiches (who doesn’t!?) She hopes she can take advantage of some great opportunities while at Overland. She says, “the work that comes out of Overland is extremely beautiful. Mostly, I am so excited to get to know the people who work here better because after just a couple of days I feel like the team here really invests in their interns.” Leah also attends Judson U. for her B.Arch. degree. Top 5 Strengths: Restorative, Empathy, Individualization, Connectedness, and Developer.

Brett Shifflett is obsessed with music and listens to all types all the time. Growing up with the hopes of being the next Toby Keith led him to learn a number of musical instruments, but he was never able to make the cut when it came to singing. With Overland being his first real internship, he is most excited about learning more about the interactions and happenings within an architectural office. “To understand how Overland operates on a day-to-day basis as a whole and then be able to contribute to that agenda is very exciting,” he says. Brett attends Northeastern University for his Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Top 5 Strengths: Achiever, Analytical, Arranger, Deliberative, and Responsibility.

Ashley Harris can be found accompanied by her faithful friend, Bambam, when she’s out and about—truly, (wo)man’s best friend. She is excited to join the Overland family and to learn from so many different people and grow as a young designer. Ashley attends UT Austin in pursuit of her M.Arch. Top 5 Strengths: Responsibility, Arranger, Input, Futuristic, and Ideation

Leo Hernandez is an amateur photographer focusing on black-and-white street and architectural photography. He looks forward to the learning experience, meeting new people, and working on as many projects as possible during his time at Overland. Currently he is pursuing his B.Arch. from UTSA. Top 5 Strengths: Restorative, Learner, Self-Assurance, Deliberative and Strategic

Aaron Stone zips around on his 250cc Suzuki bike and plans to race motorcycles one day, “once I’m ready for a faster bike.” He is most excited to collaborate, learn from everyone, and use his time at Overland to better define his path as an architect. Aaron recently graduated from UTSA with his B.Arch. Top 5 Strengths: Achiever, Learner, Restorative, Futuristic, Connectedness.
