Showcasing San Antonio’s vibrant Pecha Kucha scene, Pecha Kucha 18 featured eight creatives from around the city who presented on diverse topics ranging from clinical psychology to public radio to road trips. Overland’s own sustainability coordinator, Helena Zambrano, presented with Corey Squire, sustainability coordinator at neighboring architecture firm Lake | Flato, on their shared love of the environment and saving the world through architecture.

Never heard of it?  Pecha Kucha—originating in Tokyo as a forum for designer’s to share ideas—is a simple presentation format where presenters show 20 images, each for 20 seconds (for a total of 6 minutes, 40 seconds) with images advancing automatically throughout the talk.

Previous nights have been wildly popular, with venues filling up quickly.  May’s event was no exception. The Arneson River Theater at La Villita was packed.

Helena’s advocacy for more sustainable practices – from global to local – continues in her State of the Office address today, in which she will present on our own sustainability practices within the firm. Stay tuned.
