Michael Rey, AIA, NCARB—Pushing the firm forward with elevated design thinking and operational strategies, we are pleased to announce Michael Rey’s promotion to Senior Principal. Michael has been an invaluable member of our team for eleven years and has grown through various positions, his first at Overland being an intern. Michael brings enthusiasm to his architectural practice, business operations, and caring for those around him through his genuine interest and enthusiasm to help others succeed.

Samantha Whitney Schwarze, AIA—Leading our urban design studio, Samantha has been instrumental on significant planning projects including work in China like the Gaochun County Aquaculture Museum and on other projects of international significance since joining Overland in 2013. She inspires everyone around her to elevate their thinking and challenges them to tackle the hard problems first. She is an incredible architect, urban designer, colleague, mentor, and most importantly she does all of this with humility. This speaks directly to her character. Sam does her work exceptionally, demands excellence, and delivers high-quality work all while being kind, caring, and thoughtful. She is currently co-teaching with Ilse Frank, Founding Partner at an Interdisciplinary Advanced Design Studio, at The University of Texas School of Architecture. The class, entitled Austin 180, focuses on Downtown Austin in honor of the city’s 180th Birthday and recognition as a UNESCO City of Media Arts.
Michael Monceaux, AIA—A respected leader in the studio and technical wizard, Michael has a deep commitment to excellence and to doing everything the right way. He joined Overland in 2010 and has since lead the hospitality area and projects including Baylor East Village, the St. Anthony Hotel renovation, and now our largest ever architecture project. Michael is a talented architect who understands how to put together complicated systems, delivering quality detailing, and high-performance buildings. As thoughtful as the architecture he delivers is his abilities to lead project teams and work with clients surpasses expectations. He is delightful to work with and always optimistic. He also leads a group who facilitates all our project’s technical reviews providing quality control, mentorship to younger staff, and elevating our abilities to deliver our drawings/specs at the highest level.
Michelle Stedman, RA, LEED AP and John Byrd, AIA, LEED BD+C were promoted to Senior Architect. Michelle and John have a passion for leading others as well as leading and being accountable for office-wide initiatives. They set strategic direction on their projects, show a passion for leading others, and they reinforce Overland’s culture and values.
Recently promoted to Architect 2, S. Brady Dietert, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Rebecca Sibley, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, and Ben Parker, AIA, WELL AP have practiced self initiative and professional self discipline, and lead their teams with excellent interpersonal skills. They are accountable for the actions of their teams, and are devoted to practicing architecture and seeing their projects realized.
Finally, we’d like to congratulate Tamra Collins, AIA, LEED Green Associate, Dyami Luster, AIA, and Helena Zambrano, AIA, LEED AP BD+C for becoming the newest group of licensed architects at Overland. Your hard work, determination, and discipline paid off. Well done!
