Overland Interns Spring 2015

Madison, Chandler, Marissa, Tamra, and Rico

Say hello to five of our newest interns:

Madison is taking a break from working on her degree in architecture at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, to join us in San Antonio. Originally from Chicago, IL, she has also studied, worked, and eaten her way through Russia, Germany, and Kenya. Loving any opportunity to travel, she is discovering a bit of Texas while working on a project in San Marcos.

Chandler says: “I’m Chandler Johnson, from Houston, and I just graduated from Southwestern University. I plan on starting graduate school in the Fall. At Overland I have been helping prepare our 2015 COTE competition submission, and outside work I am designing and building a solar lounge chair. Being from Houston, I am a die hard Texans fan. #JJ4MVP”

Marissa is a 2013 BA graduate from Judson University.  She is originally from The Middle of a Corn Field, Illinois, but she is loving Texas and not missing the cold or the snow one bit!   In her free time she loves reading, bike rides, going to movies, romantic candlelit dinners (well actually any dinner), long walks on the beach, and cinnamon rolls, because who doesn’t love cinnamon rolls! She’s excited to be working at Overland until she returns to school to get her masters degree.

Tamra says: “I am pursuing my Architecture Master’s Degree at Kansas State University. I am lucky enough to be working on a great project with some awesome people. I enjoy being involved in group DIY projects and going on adventures with my dog, Karma. ”

From Ricardo: “Graduating from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Architecture in December 2014 has opened my eyes toward design.  Design has become my passion, not only in architecture, but in the sense that everything in this world could have an intention and a degree of elegance. From geometries and patterns in nature, I find myself inspired by the organizing principles that occur repeatedly in our everyday lives. Outside of the profession I love traveling as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Currently working on the Baylor Business School is an awakening that my future is about to be enlightened!”
